Day 6

When I was a kid I used to see worship as something I just did at church during any given service when the worship leader said, "Let's praise the Lord!" But now...has my perspective ever changed!

Worshipping God has become part of my daily walk with Him. The same way I come to God in prayer, or take time to hear from His word (the Bible), I worship Him.

Worship is like a verbal love letter to God. It's just taking the time to tell Him how we feel about Him. It's different from prayer, in that when we pray, we are usually bringing our needs to God. When we worship... It's all about Him.

Our hearts were ultimately made to worship God, even though we stray at times and feel drawn to worship other things. That's why I love to start my day giving Him my heart in this way. When I do, I'm less inclined to stray.

I'll do it while driving in the car running errands, sometimes while exercising, but mostly when I'm doing my devos and really need God to draw near to me.

If God tells us in His word how much He loves you and me, why shouldn't we do the same?

Psalms 89:15-17 NLT

“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, LORD. They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation. They exult in your righteousness. You are their glorious strength. It pleases you to make us strong.”

Psalms 100:1-5 NLT

“Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth! Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”
