Meet Chrissy

I am another story of how the power of Jesus Christ can change everything. My journey began with a loving family that was devoted to Christ and living for Him. Yet at a young age I was drawn to the things of this world and slowly fell away from my family and my faith. The road that followed was one of pain, heartbreak, and failure. And yet God continued to call me home. Through the miraculous power of prayer I responded to the Lord and He did an incredible miracle in my life.

Although it was amazing what God did, it wasn’t all smooth sailing after I returned home. There were many thorns that resided in my heart because of my choices, and God had to do a continual work of healing in me. I can testify that through it all I have experienced the blessing, peace and joy that comes from living the life that God had for me all along. 

 Girl in the Song, my debut book was released in 2015. I labored in love over every word with hope that it would touch your heart and that maybe my story would inspire you to trust God with your own life. Since its release, my story has resonated with people of all ages and backgrounds and it has been translated into numerous languages. I celebrate every time I receive a message from people around the world that have put their hope in Christ as a result of reading Girl in the Song.

I married the love of my life, the friend that was always there, Al Toledo and together we lead the Chicago Tabernacle - a vibrant, multi-ethnic church on Chicago’s north side. We have three beautiful children - Susie (who is married to Josh), Annie (who is married to Andrei), and Tommy (who is married to Olympia) - as well as our four grandsons, Wesley, James, Roman and Joel. 

I’ve had the privilege of serving in ministry for over 25 years and have simply desired to lead people to “become” all that Christ has  destined for them to be. I live by one mission and it’s what keeps me focused on God’s calling upon my life.
